Making Healthy Food Choices at Work
If you're like me, you have a hard time saying no to sweets and lunch invitations. When someone offers you a free meal, you (a college student) always say yes, but when should you say no? I have found that the feeling of saying "no" to the opportunity to eat at an unhealthy restaurant feels much better than it does to actually eat the bad food.
Here is a tip to avoid these moments... PACK A LUNCH. If you packed a lunch for yourself with food you actually enjoy and look forward to eating because it makes you feel good, then it is much easier to say no to dining out. When we eat out, we are less aware of how many calories that we are consuming and what we are actually eating or how much we eat.
As for my lunch, I often like to pack guilt free food options. I bring cooked chicken breasts with tomato sauce, carrots with hummus and usually brown rice. If you pack things that are good for you, then you have no other option than to eat what is there.
One thing to also look out for is when your work caters in food. This can become very tempting especially if it is something that you really like such as Cookies 'N Cream popcorn. It is to die for! But do not deprive yourself of everything, take a couple pieces then go back to your office where you are not tempted anymore.
Remember that food is only temporary, so choose wisely, friends.
Happiness and Health, Hannah
